 | Since the captain who leads the 1st Division is the Head Captain Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto, your first thought might be that this division is too hard for you. But actually, the captain throws a tea party once a month, and they hold really creative events in the lieutenant's English-style classroom, and it's a lot of fun! Plus, the 1st Division is near the bath house, and lately, the newspaper's been doing a feature on stone saunas, which they also have. So for those of you who want to get stronger, but don't want to get worn out, this is the division for you!

At this time, it is known that the Captain is in charge of the Executive Militia, the Lieutenant is in charge of the Patrol Unit, and the 3rd Seat is in charge of the Detention Unit. Well, if it's about the 2nd Division, they're most famous for their division offices undergoing remodeling after remodeling, and now the building is amazingly luxurious. Lately, there have even been stories that part of the training room under the division offices have been remodeled to dig out a hot spring.

The 4th Division is further divided into teams that have specific assigned jobs. They are looked down upon by the 11th Division who usually bully them around, although most members of the 11th Division are afraid of the Captain Retsu Unohana. "Neesan's division is sooo busy! Sometimes I go there to pick up Captain Ukitake's medicine, and I get the feeling that everyone is working hard with no rest! And Captain Unohana-- ahhh, if you see her get angry it's pretty scary!" --The Lieutenant's Sister

Their captain seems well, I'm a little jealous. It's a good place, isn't it, the 6th division. And there's a captain, too. And Abarai-kun... We have good memories together, he's a really good guy. Not that bright, though. " - Izuru Kira

However, according to Shūhei Hisagi during an omake chapter, the 8th Division always turns in their reports on time, demonstrating the 8th Division's reliability. This reliability is probably due to Nanao Ise. "Boys can go join some other division, but girls should come join the 8th division. ♥ Once a week we have a drinking party, too. "- Captain Shunsui Kyōraku

The 9th Division is known to be in charge of the Seireitei news magazine. All the lieutenants of the divisions of Gotei 13 hand in their reports to them.[3] The 9th Division is also in charge of investigations as seen in the Turn Back the Pendulum mini saga. "Our captain isn't here, but don't worry! My dedication to protecting the 9th division hasn't changed. Right now I'm focusing all my efforts on the unfamiliar editing work, but as one of the "Protection Divisions" and as the "publisher's house", we're doing our best to stay together! For now, I'm welcoming everything you bring me! I'll be waiting for your creative submissions!! " - Lieutenant Shuhei HisagiRandom Facts: All known members of the 9th Division wear kosode without sleeves, including the former captains. Mashiro is the only known member to have worn sleeves.

However, this may only be for investigative matters due to all prior matters of Karakura belonging to unranked Shinigami of 13th Division. (including Rukia Kuchiki and Zennosuke Kurumadani) In omake chapters, Hitsugaya is usually seen doing office work, signing papers and filing reports, a job actually intended for his lieutenant. Hitsugaya takes the trouble in doing so, however, as his lieutenant is usually lazing around and nobody is more adept at doing the work. This implies that the division may have been specialized for records. Hitsugaya is also the one who took charge of looking into the records Aizen searched prior to leaving Soul Society. "The 10th division is made up of the reliable Captain Hitsugaya and balanced by the gentle Lieutenant Matsumoto, so I think it's a very good division. I recommend this division to those of you who want to keep refining your abilities. Hah, Captain Hitsugaya is the kind of guy who just keeps soldiering on no matter what you throw at him. And hey, look, his name kind of looks like mine. Whenever I see him I keep subconsciously wanting to give him candy. It's really a good division. "- Captain Ukitake Jyuushiro

The Eleventh Division is said to be the one of the most specialized divisions in the Gotei 13, in terms of combat. A common theme for the Captain of the 11th Division is to take on the name Kenpachi or the best swordsman of each generation. Sun Nov 15, 2009 11:47 am Yachiru | | The Twelfth Division (十二番隊, jūnibantai), also known as Squad 12 in the English Dub, is one of the Gotei 13, headed by Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi. The 12th Division has been directly linked to the Shinigami Research and Development Institute over 100 years ago by former Captain Kisuke Urahara. As such technological and scientific research has become the full measure of what the division involves itself in primarily. Members are tasked with research and collection of data and samples, something both the current and previous Captains are very enthusiastic about, though not to the same extreme.

The 13th division's organization is somehow peculiar, the Captain (Jūshirō Ukitake), due to his weakened health state, firstly gave much of his administrative work to his Lieutenant, Kaien Shiba. After the Lieutenant's death, there has yet to be a replacement for Kaien and administrative duties are assumed by the division's 3rd seat pair. It's also notable that the 13th division is the only one with two 3rd seats and no Lieutenant.

As it is a large secret, it is natural for no one but Captain Yamato to know about it, not even the other Captains. They are the defense force used for extremly important matters, but other then that this Division is extremly free, the rules of the 13 Gotei and the Royal Family not touching them.

It takes students from the Shinigami Academy that excel in Kidō and trains them to further their abilities in said area. Its operations are executed in absolute secrecy, little else is known. During an incident one hundred years ago Jūshirō Ukitake noted how rare it was to see anyone from the Kidō Corps, especially the captain. The Kidō Corps is responsible for opening the Senkaimon between the human world and Soul Society.

Most of the building is underground, with only a small portion visible from the surface. In the anime, it was depicted as a circular building in the center of a body of water, surrounded by a wall with a single gateway. Access to the main building was via a bridge. It houses the Central 46, the central government of Soul Society. The Central 46 rules Soul Society on behalf of the Spirit King. They make all of Soul Society's laws and try those who are charged with breaking them, whether the crime was committed in Soul Society or in the Human World. Following the massacre of the Central 46 at the hands of Sōsuke Aizen during the Soul Society arc, and Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto subsequently taking over their normal duties, the compound has lost much of its former status as one of the most important places in Seireitei.

It was once called the Shinigami Academy. It changed to spiritual Arts Academy when it developed into an institute for the next generation of the Kidō Corps and the Onmitsukidō as well as the Shinigami of the Gotei 13. In Rukongai, it is still referred to as Shinigami Academy. The academy, which is located in Seireitei, trains future Shinigami for each of the three military arms of Soul Society. Sat Nov 07, 2009 4:33 pm Hotaru | | The Sōkyoku Hill is an iconic, large, rocky mesa located at the center of Seireitei in Soul Society, where it is overlooked by the Shrine of Penitence. The hill is visible from most of Seireitei and is one of the most easily recognizable locations in Bleach. It has sheer cliffs on all sides. There are two known access points to the Sōkyoku Hill - a long bridge connecting to the Shrine of Penitence complex and a long, zigzagging stairway carved into one side of the Hill. One end of the Hill is heavily undercut. It is at this point that the Sōkyoku and the bridge are located. The opposite end is covered by white forest.

 Rukongai | Topics | Posts | Last Posts |
|---|
 | Rukongai (流魂街, wandering soul city), also known as the Rukon District in the English Dub, is the largest portion of Soul Society and the most populated. It is divided into 320 districts (80 in North Rukongai, 80 in West Rukongai, etc.), each numbered in descending order on how far they are from the center; this results in the higher-numerated (and farther) districts decaying into slums. Thus, while District 1 is peaceful and lawful, much like the antiseptic lifestyle of early-Edo Era Kyoto, District 80 is a hardscrabble, violent, crime-infested area that more depicts Heian era Kyoto. There is no indication that the Shinigami or any other agencies patrol the streets of Rukongai (though there is some form of organized crime, has seen during the Bount arc), and as a result, the citizenry are mainly responsible for their day-to-day welfare. Shinigami, such as Rangiku Matsumoto, have however, been seen to travel among the districts of Rukongai, which seem to have many shops or market stalls offering goods for sale. 101 years ago, many souls in Rukongai mysteriously vanished due to the experiments of Sōsuke Aizen. These occurrences continued for about a month before the Shinigami sent Kensei Muguruma and a team from the 9th Division to investigate. The Vizard were Hollowified in a forest in the west of the 6th ward of the Fugai District on the same that the 9th Division team arrived to begin their investigation. Tessai Tsukabishi used forbidden Kidō to teleport the Vizard back to the lab of Kisuke Urahara in Seireitei in a bid to save them.

 | Hueco Mundo is located between the Human world and Soul Society, though it is separate from the bordering dimension known as Dangai. It can only be accessed by tearing the dimensional fabric separating the worlds, allowing Hollows to travel to any other dimension at will. Depending on the Hollow, the effect of this process varies. Regular Hollows usually appear from a small black vortex or form out of smoke, while Menos-class Hollows quite literally tear the sky apart to emerge. Arrancar use a more stable variant of the latter technique known as Garganta.
